Complete Material Handling Solutions for Pharmaceutical Applications
Pitman, NJ (April 14, 2003)—The K-Tron Systems Engineering Group has successfully delivered dozens of custom engineered solutions to pharmaceutical customers around the world over the last five years. Thomas Boilard, who serves as Director of Global Systems Engineering for the K-Tron Feeder Group, directs the efforts of K-Tron engineers in North America, Europe and Asia.
The K-Tron Systems Engineering Group begins with K-Tron’s core technologies of feeding, vacuum conveying, weighing and controls, engineers a complete solution and supplements the additional material handling equipment needed for the project with use of other vendors. Recognizing the need of many customers to purchase an integrated system from one source, rather than buy discrete pieces of equipment from multiple vendors and then try to make them work together, K-Tron started providing complete systems some time ago and organized the Global Systems Engineering Group last year.
K-Tron’s systems range from small skid-mounted systems that can be shipped from the factory to large projects, such as pharmaceutical dispensaries, requiring custom PLC integration and on-site supervision of installation. Projects may involve storage in vessels/ tanks/hoppers, loading and unloading bulk containers, mechanical and pneumatic conveying and refill, process controls and communications to PLCs or other factory systems as well as ancillary items such as valves, sensors, dust collection and metal detection.
Delivering large numbers of pharmaceutical projects has given the Systems Group excellent knowledge of the industry and its requirements and experience supporting the customer with the FDA validation process.
